Kenya Livine Osiemo
$29.00
maple, violet, blood orange
In 2015, Livine Osiemo put his lifelong dreams of coffee farming into motion with the creation of Limwe Estate, a far-reaching plantation stretching across four different areas of his home country Kenya. In Nyamira County, where this washed lot of Ruiru 11 and Batian were grown, high altitude, fertile soil, and cool climate, as well as Limwe Estate’s famed attention to details and keen processing, contribute to this coffee’s incredible quality and unique flavor profile.
Bright, juicy notes on first sip—crisp red apple, blood orange, and lemonade—are balanced with sweeter coconut rum, brown sugar, and maple syrup flavors, making each memorable taste mouth-watering and complex.
It’s been a good few years since we’ve sourced coffee from Kenya, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring this fantastic lot to our menu through a new partnership with Vava Coffee. Founded by Vava Angwenyi in 2009, the Certified B-Corp works to not only build equity for Kenyan farmers through training and investment opportunities, but also seeks to build transparency throughout the system, using coffee to empower communities.

At the Source
It has been many years since we purchased a coffee from Kenya, specifically because the dynamic of purchasing coffee in Kenya is very opaque—perhaps intentionally so out a strong reaction to its colonial past—making it difficult to ensure the kind of transparency we seek to make coffee purchases as beneficial as possible to the producer. We're thrilled to have found a trusted supplier in Vava who has spent years building deep partnerships with hundreds of smallholder farmers.
