Harvest During the Pandemic, Part 1
Veloso Coffee is a family-run operation in the Cerrado region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and the supplier of a key component of many of most popular our year-round coffees. When the virus began to take hold locally, harvest season was just starting, which meant the Veloso family had to quickly adapt to protect their employees and minimize interruptions to the harvest.
In June, our supply chain partner Anike Wolthers of Red Container Coffee, paid the Velosos a visit and shared these videos with us. In the first video, Mariana Veloso explains all the precautions they implemented—from increased sanitization to adopting the modified SCA cupping protocol—as well as how challenges on the consumer side of the supply chain are affecting their business. In the second video, follow along on Anike’s journey to the Veloso farms in the midst of the pandemic.
